Common questions about Phonak Naída Lumity hearing aids

Bluetooth / Connectivity Rechargeability Disposable Batteries Controls/Apps Miscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
Yes, though Phonak doesn't recommend it, as it can cause excessive battery drain. Phonak recommends purchasing the TV Connector accessory for this instead.
Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Yes. The microphones on the hearing aid will pick up your voice so the caller can hear you, without the need to hold your phone next to your mouth as you normally would. This feature works best in quiet environments. Outdoors, and in noise, the caller on the other end may say you sound like your on speakerphone.
Is this hearing aid Roger compatible?
Yes. All Naída Lumity models can pair directly to Roger devices.
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
Yes, this model is Bluetooth compatible and offers direct audio streaming from almost all phones.
Why does the app show the battery depleting faster on one aid?
This is completely normal. One of your hearing aids (right or left), will probably always drain a little bit faster than the other, on a consistent basis. This has to do with the way the hearing aids pair to the phone via Bluetooth- it always causes the battery on one aid to drain faster than the other.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
This is a risk with all rechargeable hearing aids, but most are reliable enough that with proper planning and charging, this should rarely happen. If it does happen, you have a few options to get your hearing aids charged up quickly- but they'll all require having a charger handy. If you have your standard charger that came with the hearing aids, you can of course charge your hearing aids that way, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you 3 hours of power. The charger case can be plugged into any electrical outlet, and can also be charged via USB. Alternatively, if you don't have access to electricity, if you have your charger + the optional Power Pack accessory, you'll be able to charge your hearing aids like you normally would, and the charger will draw power from the Power Pack rather than from an outlet.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
The hearing aids will make two long beep sounds. Your hearing care provider can show you a demo of these sounds in Phonak's fitting software, so you know what to expect. Typically the aids will make these notification sounds every 15-30 minutes, until the aid quits working entirely.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Expect your battery to last 4-6 years. The battery is built-in to the hearing aid, so when it needs to be replaced, your hearing care provider will ship the hearing aid to Phonak and they'll do it. Feels will usually apply, ranging from $75-$200.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?

Naída Lumity has an expected battery life of 16 hours, which includes 4 hours of Bluetooth streaming and 4 hours of TV Connector streaming. If you don't stream, battery live should approach 24 hours.

How long does it take to get a full charge?
Your hearing aids will fully charge in 3 hrs, giving you 24 hours of power. A 30 minute quick charger will get you 6 hours of power .
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture, we recommend buying Phonak's D-Dry+ accessory.
How long do the batteries last?
The Naída L-UP model should last 4-5 days (with no streaming). If you do stream a few hours a day, whether it's Bluetooth streaming, or with a Roger device, expect battery life to go down to around 3-4 days.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
The hearing aids will make two long beep sounds. Your hearing care provider can show you a demo of these sounds in Phonak's fitting software, so you know what to expect. Typically the aids will make these notification sounds every 15-30 minutes, until the aid quits working entirely.
Are the batteries hard to change?
No. These hearing aids use a large size 675 battery. Most people have no trouble changing these batteries.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?

You can control the volume and program with the onboard rockerswitch, the RemoteControl, or the myPhonak app. The myPhonak app will also allow you to adjust the frequencies of the hearing aids.

How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Phonak hearing aids and Phonak apps do not have a "Find My Hearing Aid" feature.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?

Naída L-PR is CROS compatible. Note that the CROS transmitter for Naída Lumity is the Audéo Lumity CROS, which is a much smaller device compared to the Naída Lumity.

Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
Naída L-UP comes with a telecoil, the PR model does not.
Do the features vary between the L-PR and L-UP models?
Yes, the L-PR offers two additional features- Motion Sensor Hearing, and Tap Control. Motion Sensor Hearing can detect when you're moving and automatically steer the hearing aid microphones for better speech understanding. The Tap Control feature allows you to accept/end phone calls, pause/resume audio streaming, and access voice assistants with a Bluetooth paired cell phone. The L-PR can also be fit with thin (low profile) BTE tubing, whereas the L-UP can only be fit with standard (thicker) tubing.

Use this app to adjust settings like volume, programs, frequencies, and noise cancellation. Easily make changes to your hearing aid(s) to suit your personal preferences for various listening situations. You can easily adjust the volume and various hearing aid features (e.g., noise reduction and microphone directionality) or select pre-defined programs according to the different listening situation you are in. Additionally, you can make quick adjustments to the pitch of the sound in the equalizer by using the presets (default, comfort, clarity, softer, etc.) or more personalized adjustments using the sliders (bass, middle, treble). *Included with rechargeable orders

This is the standard charger that comes with all Naída Lumity rechargeable hearing aids. Fully charges your hearing aids in 3 hrs, providing 24 hours of power. A quick charge of 30 minutes will provide 6 hours of power. There's also a compartment inside that has room for dessicant, which helps dry out the hearing aids overnight. Dessicant doesn't come standard with orders from Phonak. If you want it, please specify at the time you order .
RATING 2
The image of Power Pack hearing aids
Power Pack, $79

Power Pack, $79

If you sometimes go "off the grid" for a few days, this is a must have, because it's the only way to charge your hearing aids when you don't have access to electricity. The Power Pack is a lithium-ion battery that plugs into the bottom of the Charger Combi BTE V2 providing a reserve of 7 full charging cycles.
RATING 3
The image of TV Connector hearing aids
TV Connector, $279

TV Connector, $279

Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streamed directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app, on the hearing aids themselves, or via the + or - buttons on the TV connector.
RATING 4
The image of RemoteControl hearing aids
RemoteControl, $249

RemoteControl, $249

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.
RATING 5
The image of Roger On iN V2 hearing aids
Roger On iN V2, $1649

Roger On iN V2, $1649

Roger On has 4 modes- Pointing mode, Presenter mode, Headset mode, and Table Mic mode. In Pointing mode, simply point it towards the subject you want to hear and it'll pick up their voice, just like a microphone would. In Presenter mode (AKA lapel mode), it'll focus almost entirely on the wearer's voice and stream that to your hearing aids. In Table Mic mode is where this accessory shines, and what gives it the advantage over Roger Pen iN. When Roger On is laid flat on a surface (like a table), it automatically figures out it's orientation and switches into an automatic directionality mode. In this mode, it can automatically shift the focus of the microphones towards the direction of speech. Roger On can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy it, you don't need to buy the TV Connector. Finally, in headset mode, you can plug Roger On iN into your computer via an included USB cable, allowing you to hear participants in online calls (like Zoom), and you can talk into the Roger microphone so the participants can hear you.
RATING 6
The image of Roger Select iN hearing aids
Roger Select iN, $1349

Roger Select iN, $1349

Ideal for stationary situations where background noise is present, like a table at a restaurant. Set the Select iN in the middle of the table, and it automatically selects the person who is talking and seamlessly switches from one talker to another, streaming the sound directly to your hearing aids. What's nice about the Roger Select (and the reason it's better for smaller group conversations where it can be placed within arms reach), is you can hit a button on the device to change the direction the microphone is facing – you can “select” it – and override the automatic selection, allowing you to focus on the speaker most important to you. Select iN can also be worn by someone else you want to hear, on their chest using a clip or lanyard. This is known as “lapel mode.” When in lapel mode, Select iN knows its orientation and automatically ensures the microphone points upward to pick up the voice of the speaker. The lapel mode is good for a presenter at a meeting, a fitness class, and a passenger or driver in a car. Roger Select iN can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy a Select iN, you don't need to buy the TV Connector.
RATING 7
The image of Roger Table Mic II iN hearing aids
Roger Table Mic II iN, $1888

Roger Table Mic II iN, $1888

Of all the Roger accessories, Table Mic II iN has the least versatile functionality- it's really only designed for stationary use. Ideal for working adults who participate in various meetings with multiple (4+) people involved. When placed in the middle of a table, it's able to automatically pick up the voice of the person who is talking and stream it directly to your hearing aids. Table Mic II iN automatically switches between speakers, and unlike Select, you can't manually override the choices Table Mic II iN makes. Multiple Roger Table microphones can be connected to create a network and with a range of more than 60 feet it ensures you're able to fully understand everyone at work.
RATING 8
The image of PartnerMic hearing aids
PartnerMic, $449

PartnerMic, $449

If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach this microphone to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.
RATING 9
The image of D-Dry+ hearing aids
D-Dry+, $179

D-Dry+, $179

If you live in a humid environment, sweat a lot, are prone to ear infections, or are getting custom in-the-ear hearing aids, you should get this. It plugs into a standard outlet and uses UV-C light to kill germs, and blows warm air to remove moisture.

KEY FEATURES

1. Ear hook

The image of Ear hook hearing aids feature

The ear hook connects to the receiver (speaker) of the hearing aid and channels the sound down the tubing and into an ear mold that sits inside the ear. In almost all cases, Naída Lumity will be worn with clear plastic or rubber ear mold tubing and a custom ear mold. However the PR (rechargeable) model can be worn with a thin tube and dome, as opposed to a custom ear mold, though in most cases we’d recommend using a standard earhook (as shown on this model), with a custom ear mold, as it allows the hearing aid to provide more gain/volume. Note that in the 3D model shown on this page, the ear mold tubing and ear mold are not pictured.

2. Microphone

The image of Microphone hearing aids feature

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

3. Rechargeable or disposable batteries

The image of Rechargeable or disposable batteries hearing aids feature

The model shown is powered by a size 675 disposable battery. Naída Lumity is also available with a rechargeable battery (shown further down this page). That rechargeable battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you about 6 hours of power. Most of our customers purchase the 675 battery model, as it is more powerful, with a maximum gain of 84 dB, compared to the rechargeable model’s maximum gain of 69 dB. The 675 batteries will last anywhere from 4-10 days, depending on how much Bluetooth streaming you do. Your purchase from ZipHearing includes a 1 year supply of disposable batteries.

4. Rocker switch

The image of Rocker switch hearing aids feature

The rocker switch can be programmed by your hearing provider to have different functions, depending on your needs. Some of these functions include volume and program control, on/off functionality, answering/rejecting/ending phone calls, and pausing/resuming streaming. Some people use the rocker switch exclusively to control the hearing aids, and others use the app to control the hearing aids. Others (most people), use a combination of both the app and rocker switch to make adjustments to their hearing aids. You likely won’t have to use these buttons often, but some people find them handy to make quick adjustments to their hearing aids when they change listening environments (ie, entering a noisy restaurant, or a quiet room). Your hearing provider will go over the options available and make sure your hearing aids are set up to your ideal preferences.

5. Water resistant

The image of Water resistant hearing aids feature

Naída Lumity has an IP68 rating, meaning it’s protected from dust getting inside and can withstand exposure to water, though caution around water is highly recommended.
